Polly Hill Arboretum

From a tiny seed…seventy acres of serenity.

The Polly Hill Arboretum, on State Road in West Tisbury, started when its namesake founder was already fifty years old and decided to start planting seeds. Fortunately for the Vineyard, Polly Hill lived to be one hundred years old, and the seeds she kept on planting on the farm she inherited from her parents, have become a magnificent public garden. The non-profit organization founded to perpetuate the Arboretum after her death in 2007 hosts numerous speakers and horticultural demonstrations throughout the year.

Worth a visit on any day, it’s particularly lovely on foggy mornings or after a day in the sun.
