I love waking up to the sound of the pitter pat of my sons feet at the side of the bed, “Wake up Mommy, lets build somethin’”. The bright sun streams in our windows with the smell of fresh made coffee wafting through the house…off to an early morning yoga class – my favorite with Sherry Sidoti at Yoga Haven. Back to meet my boys who have packed up the boat with gear for the day, sand toys, picnic, shade. Stop for another coffee at Mocha Motts, head to Katama Bay to meet friends, load in the boat and head to a deserted part of Norton Point. We set up camp, friends float in via other vessels, kids and dogs pour out, boys with kites, rakes (for fresh clams on the beach of course!), and cocktails. Beach games, swimming, hilarious conversation and inventive sand castles made from the beach bounty surrounding us pass the hours with bliss. We head home in the late afternoon for showers and naps. Afterwards, we wander down to town – pick up take out from the Art Cliff truck or the Net Result, head to Owen Park for another glorious picnic and sunset on the beach. If we are adventurous (and want to deal with a car) we may head to The Look Out our go-to spot in the summer to meet friends. Tired from the day we snuggle on the couch, I surf pinterest or the million mom and cooking blogs I envy, cataloging inspiration to visit when the winter comes…
